BE POLITE
This is pretty straightforward. The most important thing is that everyone feels welcome on the site. We're here to have fun.
BE ABLE TO SEPARATE IN-CHARACTER FROM OUT-OF-CHARACTER
Someone's character is not indicative of who they are as a person. They could be playing a villain who's out to ruin everyones' days, but are still the nicest person you could ever meet out of character. Part of writing is being able to write things out of the ordinary for you, and we encourage that. If you have an issue with someone in character, please don't bring it out of character, and vice versa. We do not condone griefing other players.
NO META-GAMING
That’s when you use knowledge you as the player might have, but your character doesn’t. If your character has no logical reason to have this knowledge and it's used to your advantage, particularly in larger threads or events.
NO GOD-MODDING
Doing something you shouldn't be able to do, allowing yourself to never be hit no matter what, acting invincible despite everything, and controlling other peoples' characters all fall under god-modding as examples. Don't do this. Roleplay is a community effort.
NO DRAMA
"Hold up! Drama in character can make for a story!" Well, that's true. But drama out of character? Absolutely not allowed. If you have beef with a member, deal with in privately. Do not bring it to the board, and definitely don’t drag other members into it. This place is supposed to be fun and safe. We're not children.
TRACK YOUR STATS
It’s how we can make sure everyone is playing fair. If there's a problem later on and something doesn't add up, it helps to have things tracked to make things easier on yourself and for staff just to verify things. If at any time there is an issue with your stats and you do not have them tracked, you will be made to revert to the last point that can be tracked.
CHARACTER DEATHS AND PERMANENT INJURIES
You are not allowed to kill another player’s character, or severely maim them and permanently injure them, without their permission. This includes loss of limbs or actions that would otherwise prove fatal. While it could make the situation feel less tense, we won't force someone to kill their character off if they want to keep using them.
MATURE CONTENT
Keep everything PG13 or below. No exceptions. This means no grotesque and gratuitously violent acts put in detail, as well as overtly sexual acts. Implications are fine, fade to black and all that stuff. But don’t actually role-play sexual acts. This is absolutely not the place for that.
THE UMBRELLA RULE
This is basically covering everything we haven't covered—meaning loopholes and stuff like that. If you find a way to take advantage of a part of our board, or do something that’s not okay but isn’t specifically spoken about in the rules, it’s still not okay. The staff here has the authority to tell you to stop. Staff is subject to adding or modifying rules when specific instances happen if we feel something can be abused or passed via loophole. This includes amendments to in-character and out.
