Living Lore is a system created for Sestyra for community worldbuilding and anyone is allowed to take part— in fact, you’re encouraged to! Creating a fantasy world is an ambitious endeavor, and memorizing pages and pages of lore can seem intimidating to new players. Here, we keep aspects of the world loose and vague, filling it out with the basics and allowing players to develop the rest through their roleplays and narratives. As creatives, sometimes we make things up as we go— our characters may come from unnamed border towns, or fought in big battles, or work for prominent gangs and groups, or specialize in a certain type of combat that is mentioned nowhere in the site’s info threads. But sometimes, players make up the same things: we can have identical concepts and similar ideas, but no cohesion to relate them together. Here, we aim to compile every little bit of creative liberty that the players have come up with, in hopes of creating a more consistent and player-driven world. We can draw from and reference ideas submitted by our peers, giving life to Sestyra one player at a time.
Here’s how it works:
In the
Submissions board, you create a thread detailing your submission. It can be absolutely anything— you can talk about Ogroid politics, or describe a fast food franchise in Pont-Ciel, or maybe you’re more interested in developing the world’s flora and fauna. Anything goes! You write out a synopsis here, where other players can then voice their support for the idea or offer arguments against it. Maybe something similar has already been established, or your idea needs some fine-tuning. That’s okay! This is meant to benefit the entire board, and workshopping and sharing ideas is part of collaborating as creatives. For posts without comments or replies, submissions will be approved at a moderator's discretion. If it’s approved by the community and staff, it will go into the Living Lore Directory, organized into its corresponding category for Lore canonization. That’s it! It can be intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll see how fun it can be. For the

Happy Writing!
