Rowan is a mess, honestly speaking. In many ways, he's simply a good kid, doing his best to make sure the people around him are happy. He works hard, and he's dedicated. Beyond that, though, he was raised with little to no true social skills, and the first time he ever experienced failure, he was thrown to the undercity and disowned. There will be hurdles for him to overcome as a character but as the child of a noble family living in the undercity, there's plenty of potential for good and bad relationships.[break][break]
Befriending Rowan is not conceptually hard. He isn't quite a yes man, but he does his best to get along with everyone. He's committed to his friends, and in tumultuous situations is a clear protector. "Defend the innocents" type of guy. Unfortunately, he also has quite a guilty complex, and this can be something that will always annoy someone.[break][break]
Rowan is the classic "sad boy" kind of person, from people who barely know him. It's not unreasonable to think he'd annoy plenty of people just off the basic kind of person he is. But on top of that, he's the "prodigal" son of a powerful topside family. A noble, even a disgraced one, is an easy target in the undercity.
Besides friends and enemies, there's plenty of room for other relationships with Rowan. Mentors, work associates, perhaps frenemies.
