Rowan approached the first building, placing his hand upon the wall. The man closed his eyes, and his hand began to glow, before slowly the energy transferred from his hand to the wall itself. As the wall glowed, people stepped aside, and Rowan slowly opened his eyes.

For a perceptive sort, it would be clear Rowan's hands were shaking. He had to just do it, per the job, but...

... he couldn't.

The boy sighed, stepping toward the foreman and snatching the megaphone.

"This shouldn't be so hard," the boy scowled. As the foreman tried to snatch the megaphone back, Rowan simply pulled it away.

"Attention! If you remain in the old quarter, you are required to evacuate! Failure to evacuate will risk harm! Get out, now!"

For now, a waiting game, as the wall continued to glow, pulsing hot.

Rowan would not falter here. In fact, he waited, as he could hear sounds of movement coming from inside of the building. That, and he didn't even know who the woman was speaking to. There were so many sounds in the Racket that to assume anyone was talking to him specifically just simply didn't make sense.

So, Rowan waited. Two... maybe three people upstairs. Once they got to safety, the place was going to blow.

Rowan still would not have noticed Yevva for even a moment, until he saw that rock fly past his head and strike the wall he'd lit up. His eyes widened, and he clenched his jaw and his fists. The building rumbled audibly as he strained himself, but he kept the eruption at bay.

"Are you fucking crazy?!" Rowan would look back at the source of the thrown rock - easy enough to spot the one responsible when heads turned to her, after all.

"There are still people inside!"

Rowan shifted as he saw the woman lifting the rock, so that he was very clearly between her and the building. He'd take steps toward her while she spoke, closing the gap between them so he could better block what he knew was coming.

"You want to talk about lost money?" he cocked a brow as he approached. "You must be new here."

Not everyone in the Racket knew of the demolitionists, especially since they'd very recently become an official organization utilizing destructive magic for the sake of capital. The fact that someone getting involved with them would lecture him on money over lives made him sick, and he'd make sure that if that rock got thrown again he'd step in the way of it.

The rock went flying, and Rowan was sure to be in front of it, standing between the woman and the wall. Once it struck his cheek, the skin would break, and a bit of blood trickled down, but he would hardly react.

Throughout all of this, the lot would be able to hear and see the retreating squatters exit the building and take off without so much as wasting a moment to observe what was happening outside.

"What would we have saved... thirty seconds?" Rowan asked, scowling.

Rowan would allow parts of the wall to detonate as the individuals inside finally took off. Explosions would set off in a chain reaction, causing the building to crumble as one side became heavier than the other. Smoke poured out into the common area of the racket -- quite honestly, a normal happening these days -- as several of the broken pieces of stone that remained charged with Rowan's kinetic energy would begin to float behind him.

"What makes a difference to you," Rowan asked, still scowling, evidently displeased with this entire interaction so far.

"Hey, kid... calm down, it ain't so serious--" His foreman tried to interject.

"We put ourselves down to save less than a minute, we're no better than the topsiders. That what you want?"

"No one asked about your sympathy, you stone cold bitch," Rowan growled.

As Yevva bent down to pick up another rock, she'd find one of the ones Rowan charged fly from behind him to strike at her hand. She was an antagonistic force trying to rile him up, and when it came to things as serious as peoples' lives, Rowan tended to lose that passive vibe that let people walk all over him typically.

"I'm "puffing up" at you because you're coming to _my_ work site, making demands of _me_ at the cost of _peoples' lives_. You want to pull that? Try it somewhere else. My work is too destructive to not play it safe."
