In the year 995, the Altambra estate in Pont-Ciel's Bright End was the site of a massive explosion. The fabricated story was that an experimental magitech device malfunctioned, but the known reality -- much to the dismay of Altambra House -- is that the "prodigal son" had a magical mishap.

Rowan Altambra lost control of his own magic and destroyed the Altambra Estate's entire south ward. The eldest heir to the family lost his life in the explosion, and the Lady and eldest daughter of the house were both hospitalized. Additionally, dozens of service staff found themselves hospitalized, with wounds ranging from small scrapes to broken limbs.

This particular event shed a light on the grotesque practices of noble houses, as it resulted in Rowan's public disowning and being sent to live in the Bleeding Heart.
