[attr="class","nodensright1"]SUBJECT BACKGROUND [attr="class","nodensright21"] [attr="class","nodensright22"] Quack is trying their very best. She grew up on fishing boats that called the shores of the Free Territories home. Before you ask yes Quack is her real name but no, her parents did not curse her with it. When they were a baby they were told they had a laugh that sounded like a duck quack. It just stuck as her family and story is a little odd. [break] Their story starts in the sea. As the tale is told to her she was floating in the ocean red as a tomato from screaming. They figure she wasn't out there long but they don't know for sure. 'They' being the fishing crew that found her. The Captain always insists she was a wanted baby. When Quack had been found they had been donned with beautiful robes made with fine fabric. The fishing community they were a part of gossiped a lot of what could've happened to bring her to them. The most widely spread rumor is that she was a pirate princess fallen overboard. [break] Duck was told it only spread so fast because pirates had been very active around the time they had been found, and they had been the ringleader when it came to mischief. However her earlier years were filled with her going to different houses in the community filled with families that had resources to spare. [break] She only ever remembered moving if a family's boat wasn't doing as well or if they got pregnant and didn't want her to miss out on attention. Quack never felt that they were unwanted. Every family welcomed her with smiles and bid her tearful goodbyes. Though she never really left as their fishing village wasn't very large. [break] Every house was filled with her family and every family filled with warmth. The only scary thing that had happened to them was when she had her very first visit to the doctor that they could remember. She remembered them saying her 'swim bladder' was acting up again. The grown ups at the time as very serious looks on their faces and it frightened her. [break] It was then that they were told one of the only reasons they were likely found was because their swim bladder had been acting up. Quack had been unable to swim underwater and that was the reason why they had been floating on the service. However it wasn't super bad. She just ended up needing medicated baths. [break] As they grew it was harder to find her groove in her community. A wonderlust took hold of her and she was itching to explore. Her families could see her restlessness but Quack was so unwilling to leave their side. So they did the only thing they could. Threw a giant party and pushed her out trying their best not to cry. Quack promised to bring back wonderful things and even more wonderful stories to make them proud before setting off. She's been on that adventure ever since. |
